Cycle Tourist Container Project, Bike Box
Pradella Sistemi, in collaboration with the University of Bergamo, launched at the beginning of 2025 an innovative project based on the use of decommissioned shipping containers, transformed into a modern hub of services dedicated to cycle tourists. The initiative aims to give new life to structures that would otherwise remain unused and destined for deterioration.
Thanks to regeneration efforts and advanced technology, the containers have been converted into autonomous and multifunctional units. These structures support sustainable tourism and respond to the growing needs of urban and extra-urban cycling enthusiasts.
Each unit is energy independent thanks to high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, while water management is handled by systems for collecting, filtering, and storing rainwater in dedicated tanks.
Inside the containers, cycle tourists can enjoy numerous services: charging for electronic devices and electric bicycles, a cardioprotection area, bike washing points, and personal hygiene spaces.
Another important feature of the project is the presence of a fully equipped bike workshop, complete with tools, a workbench, and an advanced video surveillance system with artificial intelligence, capable of detecting emergencies and ensuring a high level of safety for users.
Access to the containers is granted via a health card system, allowing entry tracking while fully respecting privacy, making the facilities not only safe but also completely autonomous in daily use.
In parallel, the University of Brescia launched a similar smaller scale project for MOST (Museum of Science of Trento), inspired by the model developed in Bergamo and adapted to the specifics of spoke 5.
This type of initiative represents a tangible example of circular economy and sustainable innovation, combining the idea of reusing existing materials with the need to promote eco-compatible tourism supported by modern technologies.
